What Obry does.

Screen capture creates image and text cards instantly. Press ⌥Tab from anywhere on your Mac, select any area or snap to a window.

Docking hides cards until you need them. Throw one toward any screen edge with a two-finger swipe, then click or drag to pull it back.

Shake to drop turns any card into a file. Drag it directly into Finder, Mail, or any app. No export dialogs, no extra steps.

Text editing lets you write directly on any card — lists, checklists, links, and adjustable text size.

Scroll capture grabs content longer than one screen in a single continuous shot.

Lock and fade makes any card click-through at any opacity level you choose.

Recents keeps every capture you've made with auto-deletion after a day, a week, or up to 30 days.

Card color is picked from the capture or set manually to organize your way.

Apple Notes sync keeps any card in sync with Notes automatically in both directions.

Calculator handles quick math inside any text card.

FAQs.

What is Obry?

A macOS menu-bar app that turns anything on your screen into a floating card you can move, dock, and reuse while you work. Cards live above your other windows.

How is Obry different from a notes app or a screen-capture tool?

Notes apps are built around text you type — you open them, you write, you close them. Screen-capture tools are built around the moment of taking an image — you grab it, you save it, you move on. Obry sits in the space between. A capture becomes a card that floats above your other windows, docks to any screen edge with a flick, reopens later from history, and lets you drag recognized text straight into another app. It's not about typing notes or taking screenshots — it's about keeping the pieces of your work in reach while you're actually working.

What's the docking gesture?

Obry's main feature. Throw a card with a two-finger swipe toward any screen edge — left, right, top, or bottom — and it tucks itself away there until you click or drag it back.

What can I capture?

Any region you drag over, any window you snap to, and any page longer than your screen via scroll capture. Text inside the image is recognized automatically on-device — you can edit it, format it, and drag it out as plain text.

Does Obry send my data anywhere?

No. Every capture, recognition pass, edit, and card stays on your Mac (captures live in ~/Pictures/Obry/). The only network call Obry ever makes is a signed update check.

Will it run on my Mac?

You need macOS 14 Sonoma or later, on an Apple Silicon Mac (M1 or newer). Intel Macs aren't supported. Obry works across every connected display, follows you between Spaces, and handles Retina and mixed-DPI setups. It works best with a trackpad, since docking, resizing, and throwing cards rely on two-finger gestures.
